ARC Review: Reflected in You by Sylvia Day

Wow. I am completely wrecked and at such a loss for words. Sylvia Day has rocked my world with Reflected in You and I honestly don't know where to go from here. My heart is beating fast as I wipe the tears from my eyes. Words just can't express how I feel. When I say that this book is amazing, I mean it. It was a roller coaster ride and is definitely not for the feint of heart.

If you have read the previous book in the Crossfire trilogy, Bared to You, you know that the relationship between Gideon and Eva is tumultuous and intense. The both love each other so fiercely, yet both have so much damage and insecurities that they have to wade through. Reflections in You picks up directly where Bared to You left off and with it we are still on the emotional roller coaster that is Eva and Gideon. Both are still working towards being together despite their dark and damaged pasts.

There are so many ups and downs with the two that sometimes it might feel a bit much but it makes complete sense for these two characters. When I say they are effed up, they are seriously effed up. Both are just trying the best they can. They are constantly being thrown one obstacle after another and and you as the reader are waiting to see if this is the thing that will finally break them.

The way these two feel for each other as well as the way the react to one another is electrifying. It jumps off the page and slaps you in the face. It makes you root for them and as a reader you wish desperately for them to get their well deserved HEA. I found myself gripping the edge of my seat with worry for these two. I believe in their love for each other and I find that I will follow these two anywhere their relationship takes me.

Sylvia Day has another winner with Reflected in You. She just has a way of implanting you into this story and making it feel so raw and real. Not only does it feel real, but I'm left with such an intense desire for more. January can't come soon enough for me. I am desperate for more Gideon and Eva and I can't wait for what I am sure will be an exciting conclusion to the Crossfire series.

Feature and Giveaway: Private Pirouette by Lila Munro

Piper McGee can smell a set up a mile away. She can smell a Marine even further. Born to a dual-enlisted couple who divorced before she was old enough to remember a single family holiday together and proceeded to redefine the very definition of family through several marriages and even more step-siblings, Piper has made it her life’s promise to herself to never become involved with one of the few and the proud. They’re among the most irresponsible people she knows, leaving destruction in their wake and broken hearts paving the way to their next duty station. And in her opinion, Alec Douglas is just another example, until he pries her heart open along with other parts of her, making her question everything she's ever let herself believe about honor, courage, and commitment.

What does a man do with six month’s down time and no warm body to share his bed? For Sergeant Alec Douglas, contemplating that question led him to fall prey to his two best friend’s plan to find him that very thing. They know Alec has yet to stay with any one person for more than a few dates. They also know a tragedy from his past created the problem and while that haunts him, making it nearly impossible for Alec to trust his heart to anyone, they also know he’s a sucker for a challenge. Will the enticement of a few thousand dollars riding on him breaking his own rule be just the thing to disrupt his cycle? Taking their bet might be profitable, but is winning the money they’ve dangled under Alec’s nose worth losing himself to the girl they’ve picked out for him?

In his quest to get her to say yes to his crazy proposal, he tracks her all over town only to discover the beautiful, long-legged blond isn’t the studious book worm he mistook her for. In fact, she's one of Jacksonville’s finest in the form of Orchid, exotic dancer. Her rejection only spurs him to make sure her dancing days are over and she only performs her private pirouette for him, and only him, for the rest of their lives if he has his way.

Guest Post with Author Barbara DeLeo and Giveaway

Today I am happy to welcome to RFTC author Barbara DeLeo. Barbara is celebrating the release of her book Contract for Marriage and has stopped by for a little chat. Before I give the floor over to Barbara, let's get to know her a bit.

Barbara DeLeo’s first book, co-written with her best friend, was a story about beauty queens in space. She was eleven, and the sole, handwritten copy was lost years ago much to everyone’s relief. It’s some small miracle that she kept the faith and now lives her dream of writing sparkling contemporary romance with unforgettable characters.

Degrees in English and Psychology, and a career as an English teacher, fuelled Barbara’s passion for people and stories, and a number of years living in Europe gave her a love for romantic settings.

Discovering she was having her second set of twins in two years, Barbara knew she must be paying penance for being disorganized in a previous life and was determined to get it right this time. It’s amazing what being housebound with four preschoolers will do for the imagination and she decided it was time to follow her writing dream. Funnily enough, those first manuscripts had not a single child in them.

Married to her winemaker hero, Barbara’s happiest when she’s getting to know her latest cast of characters. She still loves telling stories about finding love in all the wrong places, but now without a beauty queen or spaceship in sight.

Interview with Author Joan Swan and Giveaway

Today I am happy to welcome back to RFTC, author Joan Swan. Joan is celebrating her newest release Blaze and has stopped by to answer a few questions. But first let's get to know a little about Joan.

I was never a star English student or a Literature buff, but I’ve always had a creative soul and an active imagination. Writing was a natural culmination of those two talents.

Sexy romantic suspense is my genre of choice, and, occasionally, I like to dabble in the lighter side of paranormal as well. I write the Phoenix Rising Series, FEVER, BLAZE, and two more books coming in 2013, for Kensington and the Covert Affairs Series, INTIMATE ENEMIES, independently.

A triple RWA Golden Heart finalist, I am a lover of craft and closet-hoarder of writing craft how-to books. I’m a recovering OCD perfectionist…bet you can just imagine how well that’s going.

In my day job, I work as a sonographer at UCSF Medical Center, rated one of the top ten best medical centers in the nation – a location with an intensity that makes me slightly—okay majorly—insane. This seems to work well with my inner writer. Access to abundant character material—and I’m not only talking about my patients—is a fringe benefit.

I’m married to my own personal hero, a veteran firefighter, we have two beautiful daughters and are blessed to live in the heart of wine country on the gorgeous Central Coast of California.

ARC Review: Looking For You by Kate Perry

This was another cute and charming read by Kate Perry. I've been waiting for the pairing between Gwen and Rick and this book did not disappoint. In previous books you could definitely sense the chemistry between these two. Yes, they was some hostility between them, but there was definite sparks flying. I loved both Gwen and Rick together. Not only were their scenes together hot but just I loved the dynamics between them.

Gwen is a local gourd artist and has always been a less forth coming about herself and her past. She gets along with everyone with the exception of Rick Clancy. Gwen knows that if she has intention of keeping her past a secret she needs to keep away from the sexy private eye. No one can find out that she's actually the long lost Grape Princess. If they do, her quite life that she's come to treasure will be at an end.

Rick knows that Gwen is hiding something. He's not exactly sure what it is, but his gut is telling him there is more to her story and his gut is never wrong. So he begins to observe Gwen in the hopes of finding what she's hiding. But the more time he spends observing her and talking with her, Rick is finding her charm hard to resist. Not only is she charming, but she's just so cute and sexy.

I loved watching these two finally let down their walls and get together. The chemistry between them is great and they are both hot together. Like I said before, I really enjoyed this book and I am really enjoying Miz Perry's Laurel Heights series and I can't wait for more.

Guest Post with Author Nona Raines and Giveaway

Today I would like to welcome to RFTC author Nona Raines. Nona is currently on tour promoting her novella Take This Man, and has stopped by for a little chat. Before I give the floor over to Nona, let's get to know her a bit.

Nona Raines became hooked on romances when she first picked up "The Flame and the Flower" by Kathleen Woodiwiss (and she's not telling how long ago that was). Romances may have changed since then, but her love for a good love story has not. She's been writing off and on for years, but it was only when she joined the Central New York Romance Writers Association that she finally gained the support and confidence she needed to complete a manuscript.

Nona lives in upstate New York with her many pets and is currently working on her next novel. A former librarian, she enjoys reading books of all genres and discussing them with others. She is thrilled to finally be able to call herself an author and looks forward to hearing from readers.

ARC Review: Secrets of a Wedding Night by Valerie Bowman

This book was an utter delight. From the first page to the last, Miz Bowman caught my attention and I just could not stop reading. I loved her voice and the way she developed her characters. I loved the way Lily and Devon interacted with one another. There was just so much sparks and passion brewing between them, and when they finally came together it was explosive and I loved ever moment of it.

Five years ago both Lily and Devon were in love and had planned to marry, but as with most romance novels a wrench was thrown into their plans and they never made it down the aisle. Each is under the impression the other stood them up for various reasons. Devon believes Lily didn't love him and was only concerned with gaining a title and a fortune. While Lily was sent a letter saying that Devon was crying off. Neither has spoken to one another in the five years that have passed and they both have tried their hardest to ignore the other.

Five long years have passed and Lily is now a widow. Left penniless by her late husband she has very strong views on marriage. When she comes across the engagement announcement of her former love Devon Morgan, Marquis of Colton she knows she must take action. She decides to anonymously write and distribute a pamphlet to warn of young ladies about the Secrets of a Wedding Night.

When Devon's fiancee' calls off their engagement after reading the pamphlet he is enraged. He immediately sets off to find the author of the pamphlet to make them write a retraction. Imagine his surprise when he when finds out that the author is none other than the woman who jilted him five years earlier, Lily. Devon is enraged and when Lily scoffs at the idea of writing a retraction Devon issues a challenge, either write a retraction or be prepared to be seduced.

I loved watching these two together. From the first moment they are on the page together you get a real sense of their emotions for one another. Yes they are both hurt, but both still feel so strongly for one another. I loved seeing them both interact together and I kept turning the pages so enraptured with what was going on. Both characters have a lot of baggage and past issues that they had to work through in order to finally be together and I found that when they finally do achieve their HEA it was well worth the wait.

Secrets of a Wedding Night is very good and I definitely can't wait to read more from Miz Bowman.
